How we work

Every three years the work of the Europe Region is discussed by our Member Organizations at the European Guide Conference. The 13th European Guide Conference will take place in Brussels, Belgium in July 2010

A new operational plan, outlining the priorities of the Region, is discussed at the conference. The Conference also elects six volunteers to the Europe Committee who put its plans into action, working closely with the Europe Region staff, based in Brussels. Meet the Europe Committee WAGGGS and the staff of the Europe Office.

To help the Europe Committee and the Europe Office develop Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting in the Region, three different volunteer groups have been established. Each group has a particular focus to support the implementation of the plan.

The membership group

The Membership Group assists the development of strategies to support associations who wish to develop Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting in their country. Providing programmes for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts over the age of 16, supporting adult leaders, and exchange of best practice are important priorities for this group. The Group also looks at youth trends and supports associations to use such data to assist their development.

Advocacy Group

As part of the vision of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to be “a growing worldwide Movement – the voice of girls and young women who influence issues they care about and build a better world”, the Europe Region WAGGGS co-operates with the European institutions and a number of International non-governmental organizations working on youth, women’s and health issues. The Advocacy Group supports the work of the Region in this area.

Resource pool

The Resource Pool is a comprehensive pool of experts who support and deliver practical assistance to associations in the areas of educational programme, training, structure and management, membership, communications, external relations and finance or other identified areas of need.  The Resource Pool provides support and assistance through seminars or tailored trainings.
