The Europe Region WAGGGS has consultative status with the Council of Europe and is a member of the Advisory Council of the Youth and Sport Directorate. This means that WAGGGS is in ensuring that the work of the Council of Europe in the field of youth is meeting the needs of young people living in Europe today. WAGGGS is also supported by the European Youth Foundation.

 

The European Commission recognises the contribution that WAGGGS in Europe makes to the active participation of young people in society and supports our work. The White Paper on Youth and funding of Youth NGOs are just two of the issues to which WAGGGS has contributed at European level.

 

We are active in the European Youth Forum (a European platform representing National Youth Councils and International Non-governmental Youth Organizations) representing the interests of young people throughout Europe. Young women from the Region represent WAGGGS on the committees and working groups of the Youth Forum, and we contribute to the development of its policies. Together with the European Women’s Lobby, WAGGGS is working with the Youth Forum on the participation of young women in decision-making.

 

We also work on issues of common interest with the European Scout Region, representing the interests of our members and aiming to influence and contribute to the issues affecting young people living in Europe today.
