Meeting of the Europe Region Working Groups in Our Chalet

7 February 2008

The Swiss mountains surrounding Our Chalet in Adelboden was the setting for the first meeting of the new working groups in the Europe Region, which took place at the end of January.  35 experts from 24 different countries representing the diversity of the Europe Region came together to begin their work in the next triennium in the 3 working groups set up by  the Europe Committee at its  meeting last October.

Three working groups have been established to support the Europe Committee to develop Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting in Europe , through a combination of events, and tailor-made assistance for Member Organizations in the Europe Region.  – the Advocacy group, Membership Group and Resources Pool, each chaired by Committee members and supported by the Europe Region staff.

Many of the members of the groups are under 30, reflecting the aim of the Europe Region to ensure that young people, particularly young women have an opportunity to become involved in the work of the Europe Region, and the joint meeting was an opportunity to use their expertise to develop the Region’s strategic plans for the next Triennium.

The working groups of the European Scout Region were also meeting during the same weekend in Kandersteg.  During the weekend, the working groups of both regions also met together to develop the implementation of the joint work for the next two years.
