'Open Up' at Roverway 2009

3000 Rangers and Rovers have travelled from 41 countries across Europe to Iceland for the start of Roverway 2009, the third edition of the event for young people aged 16-22, organized by the Icelandic Boy and Girl Scout Association, on behalf of the Europe Region WAGGGS and the European Scout Region.

Following the opening ceremony on 20th July, 60 small groups will begin their "Journey", travelling to different parts of the island to carry out local community projects.

On 25th July, everyone will gather together at Ulfljotsvatn Scout Centre, by Lake Thingvallavatn in the southwest of Iceland for the Althingi.  During the last part of Roverway, the participants will be able to take part in a range of activities to enable them to ’Open Up’ to new experiences, new cultures, to explore their ideas and share their opinions on a range of issues of concern to young people today.
